Why does Google penalise you ?

The internet needs to be spam free and in order to improve experience of the user, Google is on a mission that is to penalise the sites. It has many algorithms which help in clearing the manual and automatic penalties.
So, what exactly is manual penalty? Under it, one tends to get a notification from Google, and soon, the site vanishes from the searches. This is an easy approach. The other approach is  difficult and rather strict. Under this, no notice is served. This means fall in keyword ranking and drop in traffic. Also, this leads to lot of clean up which can be extremely tedious in nature.

So, where did you go wrong and why was your site penalised ? Lets decode the reasons behind this :-
  1. Linking that is unnatural- If you link websites which are not relevant then this is an example of unnatural linking. Some people indulge in the bad practice of influencing search results by buying links and this results in Google penalising your site.
  2. Copied content- Copy content and get ready to get a note from Google. Copying is something from which one should strictly refrain. Duplicate content has no value in Google search.
  3. Keyword stuffing- If we use keywords, in excess, it can be seen as an attempt  to increase your rankings.
  4. Down website- Having a down website tends to bug the search engines as well the users. If this happens for long duration, Google starts de-indexing the site.
  5. No. of redirects- If the website has number of pages, which tend to redirect to different domains, this tends to misguide users. Redirection from one domain to some other tends to decrease the experience of the user and it is marked as spam by Google.

So, we can see that it’s prudent to go by Google rules because even well known social networking sites are penalised by Google. As they say, if you cannot fight the army, then join it.
